Despite some niggling issues regarding the keyboard and a noisy fan, it's hard to ignore the value and quality on offer here. With two batteries in the box, HDMI output, 4GB RAM and an SSD for the same price as a fairly basic entry-level Sony TZ, it puts down a formidable challenge to its competitors. Add in the excellent screen, good performance and attractive design and you've got an exceedingly tempting alternative. Our only other regret is the lack of an HSDPA equipped version.

Go on, run your hands along the Asus U2E's leather-trim exterior. This ultraportable laptop's luxurious cladding and long list of extras will make you feel like you're handling premium gear. But we found other things to like about the Asus U2E beyond its style. To begin with, the Asus U2E weighs just 1.25kg. It has a brilliant 1366-x-768-Pixel, 11in widescreen display. Like Sony's VAIO VGN-TZ295N ultraportable, the Asus U2E's screen is easy to view in tight spaces, although it lacks LED backlighting. The Asus U2E isn't as complete a package as the VAIO, but it is much cheaper, at a reasonable (for an ultraportable) £1,394 inc VAT. Fazit: The Asus U2E is a fun, stylish notebook, and its cowhide couture is bound to turn some heads, though perhaps not those of die-hard Apple fans.

The Asus U2E is one of the most impressive luxury business notebooks we've ever seen. Granted, the $2,000 price tag is more than most consumers are likely to consider ... but this isn't an ordinary laptop. Asus managed to create one of the smallest and lightest notebooks with a built-in optical drive and a build quality that is second to none. The ASUS U2E is perhaps one of the best notebooks to hit the ultra-mobile market. Ever. By offering both solid performance for this segment, a list of features that exceeds machines much larger, size and weight that any road warrior would envy and battery life of nearly 8.5 hours ASUS is able to address nearly every concern for the mobile market; not to mention that it is simultaneously sexy and elegant. I have no doubt that the U2E will be incredibly popular and from my time testing it I can see no reason why it shouldn't be.

NVIDIA GeForce 8400M G: NVIDIA GeForce 8400M G é a sucessora com DirectX 10 da GeForce Go 7400 para notebooks e tecnologicamente uma placa de vídeo 8400M GT mais lenta e reduzida com conexão de memória dividida e só a metade de processadores stream.  O desempenho é levemente maior a 7400 e pelo tanto pode representar jogos atuais fluentemente com detalhes e resoluções reduzidas. Para pessoas que jogam ocasionalmente, pode ser suficiente.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Este é o sucessor do Core Duo e o Core Solo com um pipeline mais longo e com 5-20%  a mais de velocidade sem maior consumo de energia. Adicionalmente ao design do Core Duo existe um quarto decodificador, uma unidade SSE ampliada e uma unidade lógica aritmética (ALU) adicional.

Os Core 2 Duo para notebooks são idênticos aos processadores Core 2 Duo para desktops, mas os processadores para notebooks trabalham com tensões mais baixas e um Frontside bus clock mais baixo. O desempenho de notebooks igualmente clocked é 20-25% mais baixo que PCs Desktop  por causa do Frontside bus clock mais baixo e os discos rígidos mais lentos.

11.1": O portátil tem um formato de tela muito pequena e rara para subportáteis.
A vantagem é, que o subportátil pode ter menores dimensões e pode ser carregado facilmente. Além disto, a pequena tela tem a vantagem que precisa de menos energia, o que melhora o tempo de execução da bateria e como conseqüência a mobilidade. A desvantagem é que a leitura de textos é muito exaustiva para os olhos. Altas resoluções dificilmente podem ser usadas.

Asus: Asus é um fabricante internacional de porte médio. Em paises de língua inglesa e alemã, hoje em dia muitos portáteis da Asustec são analisados. Apesar disto, poucos modelos portáteis atingem posições altas de acordo com classificações totais e escalas de preço/valor.
