To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . O portátil de 15,6 polegadas da HP deixou uma boa impressão geral. Graças ao processador Kaby Lake, o portátil está equipado para todos os cenários de uso comuns - por enquanto e para os anos vindouros. O portátil permanece relativamente frio apesar da CPU bastante poderosa. Um veloz SSD faz com o sistema rode bem. Seria possível substituir o SSD, mas isso requereria abrir a carcaça. O teclado instalado preenche os requerimentos do uso doméstico. Também vem com uma muito boa duração da bateria. A tela mate agrada com uma resolução Full HD, mas é escura demais e tem contraste baixo. Além disso, ela não conta com ângulos de visão estáveis. No entanto, a tela é aceitável considerando o preço do portátil.

Com o 15-ay116ng, a HP adiciona um portátil de escritório poli funcional à sua linha que possui uma boa razão de preço-desempenho.

A HP cobra 500 Euros (~$532) por este portátil. Uma grande parte do orçamento é gasta no processador, tela e SSD. Isso significa que os recortes devem ter sido feitos em outro lugar: O portátil vem com uma garantia de apenas um ano. Inclusive no setor de portáteis econômicos, dois anos são padrão hoje em dia. Além disso, o portátil somente tem uma porta Fast Ethernet. Se o Gigabit Ethernet for indispensável, deverá buscar alternativas. O portátil também não possui um módulo WLAN que suporta o padrão AC rápido.
