To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. O principal ponto de venda do Lifebook U938 certamente é sua carcaça leve e pequena. Com pouco menos de 1 kg, ele praticamente supera a concorrência da Dell e Lenovo. O Core i5-8250U com o qual o Lifebook é equipado oferece suficiente torque para as aplicações comuns. No entanto, assim como muitos de seus concorrentes equipados de forma idêntica, é incapaz de utilizar plenamente o teórico potencial do processador. Pelo menos a concorrência oferece velocidades um pouco mais altas e, portanto, um nível de desempenho um pouco mais alto.

O sistema foi rápido e responsivo graças ao seu SSD, que pode ser trocado por um modelo mais rápido e de maior capacidade, desmontando o dispositivo e removendo a tampa inferior. Considerando a faixa de preço do portátil, teríamos esperado um SSD NVMe em vez do SSD SATA III pelo qual a Fujitsu optou.

O Lifebook U938 é um subportátil muito leve e compacto. No entanto, não conseguimos compreender por que a Fujitsu decidiu ignorar suas críticas e continuou com as fraquezas de seu predecessor, em vez de resolve-las, de uma vez por todas.

O teclado foi muito sólido, mas lamentamos a falta de retro iluminação do teclado. A duração da bateria foi decente, porém, mais curta do que a maioria dos concorrentes. Pelo menos o modem 4G/LTE integrado permite a conectividade móvel na estrada.

A tela IPS mate foi muito brilhante, oferece uma razão de contraste decente, ângulos de visão amplos, e uma precisão de cores decente o suficiente, de fábrica. No entanto, a tela é uma das maiores fraquezas do Lifebook. Ela se flexiona e distorce facilmente, e, portanto, sempre está em risco de sofrer um dano acidental. Também não gostamos da ventoinha do U938, dado que emitia um zumbido cada vez que estava girando. Isto não deveria acontecer em um portátil na faixa de preço do Lifebook.
