With the Alienware 15, I’m a bit more bearish than I usually am when giving a laptop a first look—and I tend to give an untested laptop the benefit of the doubt. But I have two reasons why. First, I have high expectations not only from an Alienware machine (the company has a hard-won reputation for premium quality, after all), but also from any laptop that costs much more than $1,000, especially a gaming model. I’m just as deeply sensitive to getting the most for your money as I am to the expected life of the product. And the RTX 4050 launched in laptops in early 2023. Oof! At the same time, the compromises are easy to spot. The display is functional but not vibrant, the plastic build does not feel particularly premium, and battery life, at around four to five hours in my use, means you will be reaching for the charger during the day. It is also worth noting that the review unit uses a 1TB SSD, while the highest currently available variant in India, at 512 GB, is priced at Rs.
