The Studio 15 we received comes to a total of Rs. 48,700 with delivery. This machine isn't ergonomically the best out there. It's got souped up specs (except for the graphics chip) inside, enclosed in a what can be called in today's day and age a 'bulky' body. The main incentive to buy a Studio 15 is the option to upgrade to a Full HD screen and a Blu-ray drive. Otherwise for Rs. 50,000 you get the HP Pavilion DV6-3057tx, which comes with a higher-power  ATI Radeon 5650 chip. It has a Core i3 processor (although clocked at a similar 2.4 GHz speed, but no Turbo boost). But on the good side, it comes with that chiclet keyboard we like. Then there's also the Asus N61J, which has a potent NVIDIA GT325M graphics chip, and also pulls extra tricks like auto-graphics switching (NVIDIA Optimus) to save battery life, and USB 3.0 support. If you want something cheaper, there's always the Acer Aspire 5740G with the same Radeon 5650 graphics chip for a whole Rs. 10,000 less. The Studio 15 is a decent laptop overall, but there's nothing that stands out for us to go out and hoot about it. Especially after the Inspiron line drawing so close to the Studio, there's not much different between the two. The Studio series is in need of a refresh. If you're just looking for a typical big screened laptop to do your office work,  the Inspiron 15R should do just fine.

It's a feature that few can offer and given you can have it and not sacrifice too much in terms of specification or price over competing models, it helps elevate the Studio 15 to an award.

Issues like lack of VGA cable screw posts, dedicated docking station connector, or lack of a simple RAM expansion cover are minor, and many experienced users may find the all-in-one access panel on the bottom of the notebook to be extremely helpful. The pre-configured model we tested suffered from weak integrated graphics that ruined an otherwise enjoyable experience, but configurations with dedicated graphics are available from Dell.com.

When we talk about performances of Dell Studio 1535 we must say that they have two faces. Better one shows itself while using CPU intensive applications because of newest Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.1GHz. Integrated graphics can be used for playing older games but you can forget on playing any of newer game releases. There are models equipped with ATi 3450 graphics card but even this card is not suitable for newest games, it performs much better than Intel X3100. Good news is that Studio 1535 has 2GB of RAM.

I have found this to be quite solid and i can see no flex at all. I intend to get a backlit keyboard sometime soon so that should fix the squeeking problem. Dell's Studio 15 greatly impressed us last year by combining power, usability and features at a truly affordable price, and even won our award for best laptop of 2009. Building on its already strong foundation, the Studio 1557 makes stunning quadcore performance truly accessible to the consumer market. While the restrictions it places on mobility are unfortunate, they were inevitable and do little to flaw this impressive portable.

On the whole, the Studio 1558 is a good all-rounder that offers an impressive screen and a processor with plenty of poke, for a sensible price. The $849 Dell Studio 15 isn’t perfect, but it’s still an excellent, affordable multimedia machine that should be on your short list. It performs better than slightly more expensive systems, although its gaming clout isn’t quite up to snuff. However, the design, particularly the keyboard, is one of the most ergonomically sound we’ve tested in awhile, and the long battery life means you can use it in various rooms of the house without having to worry about plugging it back in right away. We would still direct gamers toward the $899 ASUS N61Jv-A2, but everyone else—shoppers on a budget and anyone who craves long battery life and a comfortable keyboard—should consider the Studio 15.

Performance and battery life are good but the design still retains the same Studio 15 chassis that has been used for some time. Many of the best features Dell offers such as the WLED displays are optional which can raise the price up. Still, it is a good basic system for those wanting a solid performing system with some upgraded but not gaming caliber graphics.

Dell: A Dell é uma fabricante norte-americana (com sede no Texas) de hardware de computador fundada em 1984 e é uma das maiores fabricantes internacionais em termos de participação de mercado e modelos de notebooks. Sua linha de produtos inclui desktops, notebooks, sistemas de armazenamento, monitores, servidores, impressoras, eletrônicos de consumo e periféricos. A Dell oferece notebooks adequados para várias aplicações, como notebooks comerciais, notebooks para jogos, ultraportáteis e estações de trabalho. Os laptops empresariais da Dell das séries Latitude e Precision são uma opção para usuários profissionais e empresas.

Em 2023, a Dell tinha uma participação de mercado de aproximadamente 17% nas vendas globais de PCs, ocupando a terceira posição, depois da Lenovo e da HP.

Para os entusiastas de jogos, a marca Alienware da Dell é para notebooks para jogos.

Estes processadores gráficos podem mostrar fluidamente só jogos antigos. Jogos atuais só podem ser apresentados com detalhes substancialmente reduzidos.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450: Sucessora da HD 2400 produzida em 55nm (portanto, com uma freqüência mais alta) e com suporte a DirectX 10.1. O suporte ao Avivo HD permite que o gpu decodifique os vídeos HD. Adequada para jogadores casuais modestos (jogos exigentes funcionam somente com detalhes muito baixos).

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: GPU integrado (memória compartilhada) no chipset GM45 (Montevina). Graças a dois shaders a mais e uma freqüência de núcleo mais alta, é muito mais rápido que o antigo GMA X3100. Mesmo assim, não é recomendável para jogadores (jogos DirectX 10 não são fluidos e podem ser jogados somente com configurações muito baixas). O processador de vídeo integrado é capaz de ajudar a decodificar vídeos HD (AVC/VC-2/MPEG2), como para uma reprodução fluida de Blu-Ray com CPUs lentos.

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570: GPU baixo-médio nível que possui uma soma de sombreadores baixa e uma memória bus de 64 bits, mas freqüência alta. Similar a Radeon 4550. Suporta Avivo HD e DirectX 10.1.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) HD Graphics: Placa de vídeo integrada que está integrada nos novos CPUs Arrandale (Core i3 / i5 / i7 Dual Cores). Dependendo do modelo e do Turbo Boost, a GMA HD possui uma freqüência entre 166 e 766 MHz.

Muitos jogos são dificilmente executados com estes adaptadores gráficos ou se executam muito lentamente.

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100 é um chip de vídeo integrado (incorporado) num chipset de Mobile Intel 965GM (para Merom =Core 2 arquitetura). É a sucessora da GMA 950.  O mais interessante é a integração de um pipeline completamente programável.  Devido à integração de características Direct X9, HDR e Hardware Transform & Lighning (T&L) – sua predecessora só tinha Software T&L – deveria estar pronta para Windows Vista Premium (suporte Aero Glass completamente).  Com respeito aos dados, o desempenho deve ser claramente melhor al de GMA 950.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Este é o sucessor do Core Duo e o Core Solo com um pipeline mais longo e com 5-20%  a mais de velocidade sem maior consumo de energia. Adicionalmente ao design do Core Duo existe um quarto decodificador, uma unidade SSE ampliada e uma unidade lógica aritmética (ALU) adicional.

Os Core 2 Duo para notebooks são idênticos aos processadores Core 2 Duo para desktops, mas os processadores para notebooks trabalham com tensões mais baixas e um Frontside bus clock mais baixo. O desempenho de notebooks igualmente clocked é 20-25% mais baixo que PCs Desktop  por causa do Frontside bus clock mais baixo e os discos rígidos mais lentos.

T8300: O Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 era, ao mesmo tempo do anúncio, um veloz CPU dual-core para portáteis com cache de 3 MB de nível 2.

T6400: Processador dual core de nível básico baseado no núcleo Penryn com apenas cache de 2 MB de nível 2 e uma freqüência baixa.

P8600: CPU dual core veloz, mas ainda sem preço exagerado. Suficiente para a maioria dos jogos e aplicativos multimídia e graças ao TDP de 25W, útil até para  portáteis menores.

Intel Core i7:

720QM: O Core i7-720QM é o Core i7 mais lento em 2009 e apresenta uma freqüência entre 1,6 e 2,8 GHz (graças ao Modo Turbo) Portanto, combina as vantagens de um CPU quad core lento com um veloz cpu de um só núcleo. Comparado com os CPUs Core i7 móveis, o 720QM somente apresenta 6MB L3 Cache.

Intel Core i5:

520M: O Core i5-520M possui apenas 3 MB L3 Cache (comparado com o I7-640M) e apresenta uma freqüência entre 2,4-2,93 GHz (Modo Turbo). Graças ao Hyperthreading, 4 threads podem ser processados simultaneamente. Uma placa de vídeo integrada (GMA HD 3150) e um controlador de memória DDR3 também estão incluídos no pacote.
