This beautiful budget notebook provides good performance for the price. The performance of our $599 configuration of the HP Pavilion dv4t won’t blow you away. But the casual user, who wants a basic machine with satisfying sound, adequate performance, and plenty of style, will find much to like here. Others might find it worthwhile to spend an extra $20 for the Lenovo IdeaPad Y450, which has a higher-resolution display, nearly an additional hour of battery life, and a lighter chassis. All in all, the dv4t notched slightly better scores on some of our benchmark tests, making this HP a solid system for those on a budget.

The HP Pavilion dv4t works well as a media hub for a home theater, as well as a mobile workhorse for lugging to school or traveling. Port selection is fantastic, and with the native docking station connection you can attach even more devices. The “SmartBay” removable storage expansion drive worked well when you wanted more storage instead of an optical drive. While the price on our configuration was quite high because of a few key components like the top-tier processor, a more modest configuration would result in a much more affordable notebook. Overall, you get lots of bang for your buck in a durable chassis that should easily hold up for a number of years.

The design of the dv4t and very good price to performance ratio are what really have me sold on this notebook and liking it. It’s not the lightest 14″ laptop out there and battery life could be better, I also found heat build up was a bit problematic with the dedicated graphics. If you got integrated graphics and a slower processor I’m sure the heat and battery life issues would not be such a problem, so keep that in mind, even though there will always be an inner voice urging you to trick your laptop out with the highest possible configuration.

If you’re looking for a back to school laptop that’s both portable and has the flexibility to be configured as a gaming laptop the dv4t-5100 could definitely fit the bill. It has a unique design with some interesting color options, good audio quality, excellent battery life and a nice selection of ports. The only real downsides are the fact the screen cannot be upgraded to anything better than 1366 x 768 resolution and the keyboard backlight option is missing from this model, it’s strange that in last years 2011 dv4 model there were such options. The price is also a big part of what to consider here, the starting price with the HP student discount is $536.99, a pretty outstanding deal for a high quality laptop. Though the ENVY 4t we reviewed is thinner and lighter than this dv4t model, it underperforms with its undervolted processor and has a sealed non-replaceable battery which is somewhat annoying.

HP: Fundada em 1939, a empresa norte-americana é uma importante fabricante de servidores e impressoras e uma das principais empresas de TI do mundo. Até 2015, a empresa se chamava Hewlett-Packard Company. Após uma divisão, a divisão de computadores foi renomeada para HP Inc.

Em 2023, a HP tinha uma participação de mercado aproximada de 22% das vendas globais de PCs, o que a colocava em segundo lugar, depois da Lenovo.

Estes processadores gráficos podem mostrar fluidamente só jogos antigos. Jogos atuais só podem ser apresentados com detalhes substancialmente reduzidos.

NVIDIA GeForce 9200M GS: Uma 9300M GS com freqüência mais baixa, portanto, um pouco mais lenta. Suporta PureVideo HD (VP3)e Hybrid-SLI (HybridPower e GeForceBoost).

Estas placas também devem ser capazes de agüentar todos os jogos atuais, mas a maioria deles em configurações de detalhes médios e baixos e com baixas resoluções. Jogos mais antigos, ou menos exigentes ainda podem ser jogados com boa qualidade de gráficos.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Este é o sucessor do Core Duo e o Core Solo com um pipeline mais longo e com 5-20%  a mais de velocidade sem maior consumo de energia. Adicionalmente ao design do Core Duo existe um quarto decodificador, uma unidade SSE ampliada e uma unidade lógica aritmética (ALU) adicional.

Os Core 2 Duo para notebooks são idênticos aos processadores Core 2 Duo para desktops, mas os processadores para notebooks trabalham com tensões mais baixas e um Frontside bus clock mais baixo. O desempenho de notebooks igualmente clocked é 20-25% mais baixo que PCs Desktop  por causa do Frontside bus clock mais baixo e os discos rígidos mais lentos.

P8600: CPU dual core veloz, mas ainda sem preço exagerado. Suficiente para a maioria dos jogos e aplicativos multimídia e graças ao TDP de 25W, útil até para  portáteis menores.

Intel Core i5:

2410M: Processador Dual-core baseado na arquitetura Sandy Bridge com uma placa de vídeo integrada e controlador de memória dual-channel DDR3. O CPU tem uma freqüência de 2,3 GHz (Turbo Boost 2,6-2,9 GHz) e o GPU com 650 (1200 MHz Turbo).

3210M: Veloz dual-core baseado em Ivy-Bridge, inclui GPU HD 4000, freqüência  de 2,5 - 3,1 GHz
