As far as we're concerned, anything Lenovo does to make the ThinkPad look sleeker is just gravy. It's a balance of performance and portability at a reasonable price point that make a ThinkPad, but the visual refresh is appreciated. So far the T431 fits the bill, and we look forward to getting this ultrabook in for a full review.

Ultimately, the choice of laptops falls to your IT buyer and the current installed base of systems. If you're a Lenovo shop, the Lenovo ThinkPad T431s is a worthy successor to the ThinkPad faithful, though the new trackpad may take a little while to get used to. The Dell Latitude 6430u as reviewed has significantly more performance under its hood, so it holds on to the Editors' Choice for business laptops, but if your company relies on Lenovo systems, the T431s is a very good workhorse PC for your rank and file workers.

Lenovo’s new design makes a lot of changes, and change doesn’t usually come without compromise – and even, at times, sacrifice. The ThinkPad T431s combines relatively long battery life, a high-res screen, a large touchpad, a responsive keyboard and a good low-light webcam and places all of that functionality into a durable chassis that weighs just 3.4 pounds. Unfortunately, narrow viewing angles, slightly high temperatures and mediocre performance hold this notebook back from achieving a higher rating.

Lenovo: A Lenovo ("Le" de lenda em inglês, novo (latim) para novo) foi fundada em 1984 como uma empresa chinesa de comércio de computadores. Em 2004, a empresa era a maior fabricante de laptops da China e, após adquirir a divisão de PCs da IBM em 2005, a quarta maior do mundo. Além de desktops e notebooks, a empresa fabrica monitores, projetores, servidores, etc., e é especializada no desenvolvimento, fabricação e comercialização de produtos eletrônicos de consumo, computadores pessoais, software, soluções empresariais e serviços relacionados.

Em 2016, a empresa ficou em primeiro lugar no mundo em vendas de computadores. Em 2023, ela ainda ocupava essa posição, com cerca de 23% de participação no mercado global. As linhas de produtos importantes são Thinkpad, Legion e Ideapad.

Em 2011, ela adquiriu uma participação majoritária na Medion AG, uma fabricante europeia de hardware de computador. Em 2014, a Motorola Mobility foi comprada, o que deu à Lenovo um impulso no mercado de smartphones.
