Overall, there is a lot we can say in favor of the ThinkPad SL400. Lenovo is offering a solid budget ThinkPad for only $799 and also offering pre-configured models with better performance and features for $1,249 or less. That said, like most notebooks in the small business class, the SL400 suffers from cheap plastics used in the chassis construction, weak built-in speakers, and an overall build that is slightly thicker and heaver than needed. As it stands now, there are a number of reasons you might want to pick up an SL400 rather than a similar notebook from the Dell Vostro lineup or Toshiba Satellite Pro line. That said, diehard ThinkPad owners might criticize the glossy lid, lack of lid latch, and the type of plastics used in some places. The performance of our test configuration suggests the SL400 packs enough raw power to satisfy most small business owners, but it's clear that the new SL series isn't the same ThinkPad we've seen before.

Lenovo has targeted the small-to-medium–business market with a stylish system that’s powerful enough for both work and play. Not only does the SL400 offer plenty of processing power and battery life but also great support and wireless performance. To top it all off, this notebook can cut loose after-hours with strong multimedia and decent gaming performance. Unfortunately, this powerful package is not without its flaws. The slow hard drive and obstructed ports mar an otherwise superior system. However, it’s easy to look past these warts and recommend the SL400.

Day to day, I had very few complaints about the ThinkPad SL300. Lenovo may have dropped the cost of the product and moved it to a size that is new to the ThinkPads (aside from the X300/X301) but the fundamentals are still strong. As noted in the SL400 review, the SL series makes changes from the ThinkPad design that so many people know and love, but it is far from the disaster that many people forecasted. You get the quality and performance you want, but ditch some of the high-end features that you don’t necessarily need.

Lenovo: Lenovo é um dos maiores fabricantes internacionais desde a aquisição do setor de portáteis da IBM. Sua cota de mercado é alta assim como os modelos analisados nos paises de lÃngua alemã e inglesa. Apesar disto, os portáteis Lenovo raramente atingem posições altas de acordo com classificações totais ou relação preço/valor. Excelentes avaliações existem pelo acabamento e qualidade.
Estas placas também devem ser capazes de agüentar todos os jogos atuais, mas a maioria deles em configurações de detalhes médios e baixos e com baixas resoluções. Jogos mais antigos, ou menos exigentes ainda podem ser jogados com boa qualidade de gráficos.
NVIDIA GeForce 9300M G: O melhorado chip 8400M GS, que é produzido em 65nm e mostra um desempenho levemente melhor graças a algumas pequenas otimizações.
NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS: Comparada com a 9300M G, a GS tem apenas 8 unified shaders, mas uma freqüência mais alta. Portanto, o desempenho deve ser semelhante de acordo com a Nvidia. Suporta
Hybrid-SLI (GeForceBoost e HybridPower) com Nvidia 9100M G e PureVideo HD (VP3).
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 4500MHD: GPU integrado (memória compartilhada) no chipset GM45 (Montevina). Graças a dois shaders a mais e uma freqüência de núcleo mais alta, é muito mais rápido que o antigo GMA X3100. Mesmo assim, não é recomendável para jogadores (jogos DirectX 10 não são fluidos e podem ser jogados somente com configurações muito baixas). O processador de vÃdeo integrado é capaz de ajudar a decodificar vÃdeos HD (AVC/VC-2/MPEG2), como para uma reprodução fluida de Blu-Ray com CPUs lentos.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Este é o sucessor do Core Duo e o Core Solo com um pipeline mais longo e com 5-20% a mais de velocidade sem maior consumo de energia. Adicionalmente ao design do Core Duo existe um quarto decodificador, uma unidade SSE ampliada e uma unidade lógica aritmética (ALU) adicional.
Os Core 2 Duo para notebooks são idênticos aos processadores Core 2 Duo para desktops, mas os processadores para notebooks trabalham com tensões mais baixas e um Frontside bus clock mais baixo. O desempenho de notebooks igualmente clocked é 20-25% mais baixo que PCs Desktop por causa do Frontside bus clock mais baixo e os discos rÃgidos mais lentos.

A vantagem é, que o subportátil pode ter menores dimensões e pode ser carregado facilmente.
