At a price of Rs. 17,999 (MOP) or 19,999 (MRP) the Aspire One D260 feels overpriced. In terms of performance, there’s nothing that this netbook does which the Toshiba NB520 cannot do better. Agreed that 3G compatibility is a neat feature, but for now 3G in India is not at its full-fledged best. Although a dongle for 3G is not very convenient to use, you can still go for the ASUS 1015PEM or the Toshiba NB520 which have USB ports for 3G connectivity through a dongle.

So although everything is ‘basic’ it does mean that you are still using the program and tools that almost any modern business does. The Acer Aspire One D260 measures 25.5x18x2.5cm and weights only 1200grams. The visible screen is 22x12.5cm giving the diagonal 10.1inch measurement.

The Acer Aspire AOD260 costs Rs. 18,000 + taxes. That is quite a fair price, as Netbooks with configurations like this one cost around Rs. 15,000, plus a Tata Photon+ dongle would cost you about Rs. 2,000. The AOD260 is a pretty decent buy if you're looking for a typical Netbook that'll save you the trouble of carrying a USB 3G dongle every time. Another way of looking at it is this - a built-in 3G modem means you cannot enable any other PC with its wireless broadband internet (unless you make this netbook behave like a Wi-fi router using apps like Connectify). But then keep your expectations very modest with this one, as the combination of 1GB RAM, single-core Atom processor and Windows 7 Starter cannot take too much load. Its identical cousin without the 3G powers, the Gateway LT23, costs Rs. 22,700 + taxes. Although the 2GB RAM and 320GB hard drive sounds like a bargain, we think it's somewhat a sore one when you compare it to the HP Mini 210, which has all of that, plus a faster 1.86 GHz Intel Atom processor, not to mention a much better designed keyboard. Only if you don't mind its slightly heavy body weight.

Acer: Em 1976, a empresa foi fundada em Taiwan com o nome Multitech e foi renomeada Acer ou Acer Group em 1987. A linha de produtos inclui, por exemplo, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitores, TVs e periféricos de computador. Intel Atom: A série Atom da Intel é um microprocessador de 64 Bits para portáteis pequenos e baratos, MIDs, ou UMPCs. A especialidade de sua nova arquitetura é a execução “in order” (ao inves de a usual mais rápida execução “out of order”). Assim, o trabalho do transistor é bem mais baixo na série Atom, e é mais barato para produzir.

N450: O CPU Intel Atom para Netbooks com controlador integrado de memória e GPU GMA 3150. O desempenho do sistema deve ser somente minimamente mais veloz que a combinação anterior Atom N280 / GMA 950.

Z540: Processador Atom economizador de energia (ainda mais energeticamente eficiente que a série N) com 1,83 GHz e, portanto, um pouco mais veloz que os habituais Atoms de 1,6 GHz.

N550: O Atom Dual core com um TDP de apenas 8,5 Watts. Devido à baixa freqüência de 1,5 GHz, às vezes pode ser ainda mais lento que um CPU ATOM N465.
