Boasting flashy looks, a glossy screen and enough chrome-effect highlights to dazzle a footballer’s wife, it's not exactly shy and retiring. Look at the reasonable asking price, though, and the fashion-conscious crowd might be willing to cut the HP a bit of slack.
It might not earn a perfect six overall, but the DV6 is an affordable, high-quality desktop replacement that makes a great case for itself. And, when you consider that it costs just £608 exc VAT, most people will find it decidedly easy to put up with those flash-Harry looks.

There's plenty of competition in this particular sector, since 15.6in is essentially the new 15.4in - i.e. the mainstream laptop size. Mediocre battery life aside, the HP Pavilion dv6-1240ea is an exceedingly accomplished laptop. Its specification is perfectly balanced and the list of features and extras (like the included remote) it offers for the money is truly astounding. If you're after a laptop that can do a bit of everything and don't want to spend the earth, we can think of little better suited to the task.

HP has once again used its imprint technology to produce a glossy and very attractive notebook – an effect that extends to the touch media controls and the flush ports on the side of the notebook really do look the part. Overall though, the HP is a fantastic laptop for use as an entertainment hub. It's powerful and smart, while its lack of weight means it's an ideal living room machine.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Este é o sucessor do Core Duo e o Core Solo com um pipeline mais longo e com 5-20% a mais de velocidade sem maior consumo de energia. Adicionalmente ao design do Core Duo existe um quarto decodificador, uma unidade SSE ampliada e uma unidade lógica aritmética (ALU) adicional.
