A fair price, an attractive design, and multitouch support may allow tablet shoppers to overlook the HP TouchSmart tx2-1275dx's middling performance and poor battery life.

After everything is said and done it's tough to be overwhelmingly positive or negative about the HP TouchSmart tx2. On one hand, HP succeeded in bringing us an affordable multi-touch notebook loaded with cool entertainment features and a slick interface to keep consumers happy. On the other hand, the new multi-touch interface doesn't always respond exactly as it should and you may end up touching the screen multiple times before the screen finally does what it should have done the first time you touched it.

Anybody in the market for a ultra mobile laptop could do a lot worse than the Touchsmart TX2. It’s a comfortable and stylish machine, and it’s crammed with features. We’re not so sure it’s successful as a Tablet PC, however, where it’s slightly too bulky for comfortable one-handed use, and the screen that responds to finger inputs in addition to a stylus proved too quick to register movements for our liking.

We can forgive HP for not wanting to use the T-word though, since tablet PCs have never really taken off. Unlike previous touchscreen laptops, the Touchsmart tx2 can be navigated with two fingers on the 12.1in display ­ a technique made popular by the iPhone. Stylish, comfortable and well-equipped, but not the fastest machine. Where most Tablet PCs are primarily aimed at corporate and field workers, HP's TouchSmart tx2-1020ea is a touchscreen laptop that targets the regular consumer. The 12.1-inch screen swivels and folds flat for tablet use. There's a stylus tucked into the corner of the chassis, so you'll be able to control the cursor and enter text directly on to the display itself, and the panel also responds to finger inputs. Comfortable, well-equipped and offering good build quality, the tx2 is an impressive laptop. We're not certain it makes a great Tablet PC, however, proving too unwieldy for comfortable one-handed use.

Microsoft might have put a lot of money behind the concept over the years, but tablet PCs have always struggled to capture the imagination of the public. There's plenty to like about the TouchSmart tx2: it's attractive, well-designed, makes full use of Windows' built-in tablet features and is reasonably priced. However, if you've never been interested in tablet PCs, it's unlikely this one is going to give you a sudden enthusiasm for them, and we wish HP had made more of its multi-touch screen.

HP: Fundada em 1939, a empresa norte-americana é uma importante fabricante de servidores e impressoras e uma das principais empresas de TI do mundo. Até 2015, a empresa se chamava Hewlett-Packard Company. Após uma divisão, a divisão de computadores foi renomeada para HP Inc.

Em 2023, a HP tinha uma participação de mercado aproximada de 22% das vendas globais de PCs, o que a colocava em segundo lugar, depois da Lenovo.

Estes processadores gráficos podem mostrar fluidamente só jogos antigos. Jogos atuais só podem ser apresentados com detalhes substancialmente reduzidos.

ATI Radeon HD 3200: Chip de gráficos (no chipset RS780M) integrado (Memória compartilhada) baseado no núcleo de gráficos HD 2400. Também apresenta o motor de vídeo UVD para decodificar vídeos HD. Além disso, suporta Hybrid CrossfireX (para aceleração) e PowerXpress(para economizar energia) com um adaptador de vídeo dedicado (da linha HD 3000).

AMD Turion X2 Ultra:

ZM-86: Mistura de dois núcleos que se baseiam em K8 e K10 uncores (como controlador de memória). Oferece funções melhoradas de economia de energia comparado com os antigos CPUs Turion CPUs, mas ainda não tão boas quanto um Core 2 Duo. O ZM-86 é o CPU mais veloz da série ZM e um CPU de classe média em 2008.

ZM-84: Mistura de dois núcleos que se baseiam em K8 e K10 uncores (como controlador de memória). Oferece funções melhoradas de economia de energia comparado com os antigos CPUs Turion CPUs, mas ainda não tão boas quanto um Core 2 Duo. O ZM-84 é semelhante ao ZM-85, mas apresenta um vínculo HT de freqüência mais baixa.

AMD Turion X2:

RM-74: Processador dual core de nível básico baseado em Griffin. Os núcleos ainda se baseiam na antiga arquitetura K8 (controlador de memória é recente).
