The Makita 40VMax Cooler / Warmer Box has been launched in the UK. The gadget can heat or cool 20 L of food and drink to temperatures between -18 and 60 °C (~0 and 140°F). The device can be powered cordlessly with detachable power packs and features a built-in bottle opener and USB port to charge your smartphone.

Makita has announced the arrival of the 40VMax Cooler / Warmer Box in the UK. The portable gadget, known by model number CW001GT, has a 20 L capacity. You can cool food and beverages from -18 to 10°C (~0 to 50°F) or warm items from 30 to 60°C (~86 to 140°F), with seven temperature settings to choose from.

A compressor-type system provides cooling, while a heater carries out warming. The Makita Cooler / Warmer can use four power sources: cordless 40Vmax XGT and 18V LXT power packs from Makita, a 12V or 24V cigarette socket or an AC adapter. A lamp inside the box makes it easier to find refreshments in lower lighting, and an LED screen shows information such as the temperature and remaining power, where applicable.

The gadget has an integrated bottle opener and a USB output port, which you can use to charge small devices. The portable cooler measures 663 x 341 x 372 mm, weighs 13.5 to 13.8 kg (~29.8 x 30.4 lbs) and comes with a built-in handle and 100 mm (~3.94-in) wheels to make it easier to transport. The Makita CW001GZ 40VMAX XGT LXT retails for £489.99 (~US$606). Also available in the range are the 40V COOLER/WARMER BOX XGT CW002GT, with a 50 L capacity, and the smaller 40V COOLER/WARMER BOX XGT CW003GT, with a 7 L storage volume.
