In terms of parameters, the smartphone is really very similar to the new Redmi Note 11. However, if you abstract from this, then the budget smartphone itself turned out to be quite good. Among its main advantages, I can single out a high-quality display, a very cool autonomy paired with fast 33 W charging, as well as stereo sound.

Embora seja excelente em quase tudo, ele peca com alguns problemas de software, como não ter suporte para a Netflix ou Google Pay — que entendem que o aparelho foi rooteado — e o modo Always On Display que não funciona. São coisas que podem ser arrumadas com uma atualização, que não tem previsão de acontecer. Eu não exagerei quando disse que o Realme 9 Pro Plus foi um dos celulares intermediários que eu mais gostei de usar nos últimos meses. Tirando os modelos mais completos da linha Galaxy A, que ainda são referência no segmento aqui no Brasil, a nova aposta da Realme é a que mais se aproxima dos rivais sul-coreanos. O aparelho me conquistou em muitas frentes: o design belíssimo, a tela Super AMOLED de qualidade, o desempenho intermediário ótimo para qualquer tarefa, e as câmeras extremamente competentes, com destaque para o sensor principal com OIS. Claro, há alguns pontos de melhoria, como a interface Realme UI, que apesar de estar melhor ainda fica atrás da One UI em fluidez. E a bateria, que foi destaque nas gerações passadas, é apenas boa por aqui. Mas, no conjunto da obra, fiquei muito feliz com o que a Realme fez com esse smartphone intermediário. Mesmo não recomendo-o agora por ainda estar muito perto do lançamento, vale considerá-lo quando estiver entre R$ 2.300 e R$ 2.500. However, the €320 pricing in Europe is just way too much. The current price tag puts the Realme 9 Pro into an awkward position and it's really hard to recommend over the majority of the mid-€300 handsets. It's hard to beat brighter OLED panels and upper mid-range chipsets with an LCD and typical mid-range SoC. It even faces competition from one of its own siblings. It would have been an easier recommendation if the device's screen was OLED even if that would have cost it a few hertzes. After all, the advertised granular control over the HRR doesn't seem to work, and the Auto refresh rate mode likes sitting at 90Hz most of the time anyway. But perhaps the hardware shortage is beginning to take its tow and Realme's uptick in prices for Europe this year is temporary. As time goes by, the 9 Pro may become a more lucrative option but for the time being, we see it performing well only in India.

The Realme 9 5G looks great with an eye-catching exterior and feels good to the touch. It's well-made both physically and in terms of specs. It's just a bit too close to its Realme 8s 5G and Realme 8 5G siblings to really be anything more than an incremental variation on the same formula. So, you can understand our lack of excitement about this one. That value formula, however, is undoubtedly highly appealing, and with a current price tag of just under INR 15,000 (EUR 185/$192), the Realme 9 5G manages to push the value envelope even further. It delivers a well-balanced specs sheet with plenty of features, including 5G connectivity and the slick Realme UI 2.0, without breaking the bank. In fact, it even goes one step beyond by including a MediaTek Dimensity 810 5G chipset in the mix, which is about as good as hardware gets in this price bracket. A generous and aggressive offer, even more attractively-priced than the Realme 8s 5G and the Realme 8 5G.

70% Realme 9 5G First Impressions: A Budget Phone for 2022

The Realme 9 5G is made of plastic, and while the build quality is fine, it isn't especially impressive at first touch. Unlike previous models, there's no attention-grabbing design flair here. The phone is available in Stargaze White and Meteor Black. The former finish, which is what I have with me, catches the light at certain angles and refracts pinkish-yellowish tones, while the latter is plain and simple. This phone is 8.5mm thick and weighs a reasonable 188g. The rear panel curves on the sides to meet the plastic frame, making this phone relatively comfortable to hold and use. The fingerprint sensor is integrated into a recessed power button which is within reach. You'll find volume buttons and the SIM tray on the left (with two Nano-SIM slots and a microSD card slot). The bottom has a USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio socket, and speaker. The Realme 9 5G isn't going to turn any heads in terms of design. It also doesn't have the sort of specifications that will immediately draw people in.

Se o objetivo for apenas um smartphone simples que segure a onda nas redes sociais e joguinhos mais leves, mas que tenha uma ótima câmera, o realme 9 vai ser ótimo para você. Agora, se você está buscando um desempenho melhor nos games e não liga tanto assim para fotos, sugiro procurar a concorrência. O preço oficial do realme 9 aqui no Brasil é de incríveis e salgados R$2.999,00, R$500 mais em conta que a versão Pro+, também no preço oficial. Como visto, o realme 9 é um celular bacana, mas pode decepcionar alguns pelo preço para um celular sem 5G e com Snapdragon 680 que está abaixo da concorrência em potência. O Galaxy A33 seria uma boa alternativa para quem busca um celular compatível com a nova geração da internet móvel e ainda leva de bônus um aparelho com resistência à água e alto-falantes estéreo. O realme 9 é mais ágil no multitarefas, apesar do Galaxy conseguir números maiores em alguns benchmarks. O da Samsung perde em autonomia e tempo de recarga, enquanto se destaca em filmadora ao gravar em 4K. O Moto G82 traz o Snapdragon 695, um chip levemente mais potente que consegue números maiores em benchmarks e agrega conectividade 5G. O intermediário da Motorola possui tela de 120 Hz e som estéreo como diferenciais, mas perde em desempenho multitarefas e autonomia de bateria. Em fotos e vídeos temos vantagem para o realme 9.

O Realme 9 é um concorrente de aparelhos que foram lançados a preço mais baixo aqui no Brasil. Motorola e Samsung conseguem valores mais interessantes para o público nacional, e lançaram Moto G52 e Galaxy A23 por menos de R$ 2.000. Este é um valor bem mais em conta do que os R$ 3.000 de lançamento do Realme 9. Além disso, os concorrentes aparecem a valores ainda mais baixos no varejo nacional, uma competição ainda difícil para a empresa chinesa que iniciou operações no país há cerca de um ano. Mas o objeto desta análise se mostrou mais competente em desempenho que o Moto G52, além de tirar fotos melhores. E tem tela Super AMOLED, contra uma PLS LCD do concorrente da Samsung. A questão é: vale pagar quase dois celulares por essas vantagens? Não preciso responder, até porque isso vai de cada um. O Realme 9 pode ser uma opção interessante para importar, já que está bem mais barato em sites chineses. It's interesting to compare the phone we're reviewing here directly with the Realme 9 5G – which, as the name suggests, adds 5G. The standard Realme 9 sticks with 4G, although it does have a faster wired charging rate and an OLED rather than an LCD screen. It seems that Realme is trying to cover as many bases as possible. Even just within the current Realme range, the Realme 9 risks getting lost in the noise, and that's before you've weighed it against other smartphones around this price point, like the Oppo A74 5G and the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G. It's a tough section of the market to carve out space in and you could argue that the Realme 9 doesn't quite do enough.

However, all the other aspects of the phone are holding it back. It’s neither fully meant for entertainment (without stereo speakers) nor is it good for gaming (thanks to the processor), and above all, the low-light camera performance is among the weakest on any phone of this price.

I really think that the Realme 9 would have made more sense if the 5G version’s Dimensity 810 SoC could have made its way to the former and removed the need for the latter entirely. Everything that the Realme 9 5G lacks is fulfilled by the regular Realme 9’s specs. There is a much better camera involved, an AMOLED panel that has a jittery 90Hz refresh rate but much better colour reproduction. The charging speeds are faster and authentication is done with a trusty in-display fingerprint sensor. Even on the software side, the Realme 9 comes with Android 12 out of the box while the 5G model is still on the previous version. If only the Realme 9’s performance was better, the device would have been surely a top recommendation in my book. Users looking for a good gaming experience on a budget can certainly do with better devices in the same price range like the Samsung Galaxy F23 (review) or the iQOO Z6 (review). That said, the new Realme 9 does come across as a compelling option that gets a lot of things right.
