If you want a laptop that is really slim and light then you’ll obviously want to opt for a 13in Ultrabook instead. But if you compare the M3 to most 15.6in laptops then it actually comes out looking pretty good. It’s one of the slimmest and lightest 15.6in models currently available, whilst still managing to cram in a DVD drive and decent connectivity options. A higher clock speed would be nice, but the M3 should still cope perfectly well with most routine computing tasks, and the £500 price tag isn’t at all bad for a ‘semi-ultra’ laptop of this size.

Still, if the M3 is the shape of all-rounders in future, there’s a lot to like. It’s far more portable than most other all-rounders and while the low-voltage CPU isn’t as powerful as an equivalent full-voltage chip, PCMark 7 showed that the M3’s overall performance was still impressive. The Acer Aspire M3 Touch is a capable performer in both office applications as well as gaming. Its display quality is nothing to write home about, but it is nevertheless as responsive as you would expect of a Windows 8 capacitive multi-touch screen. The large 15.6"screen size and the weight make it ideal as a desktop replacement, rather than as an Ultrabook that can be carried around. One of the interesting things to note about this laptop is its switchable graphics that can switch between discrete NVIDIA and onboard Intel graphics according to application load, and thus help get a better battery backup. The Aspire M3 doesn't just good look, but also sports excellent build quality. The battery backup time is also noteworthy for a laptop with discrete graphics. Priced at Rs 63,000, this seems to be a good buy, but if you are not going to use the touchscreen, you can opt for the Acer Aspire Timeline Ultra M3, instead for around Rs 50,000 with almost the same hardware, except that it has a Core i5 (which is faster) and more importantly, lacks the touchscreen

Acer: Em 1976, a empresa foi fundada em Taiwan com o nome Multitech e foi renomeada Acer ou Acer Group em 1987. A linha de produtos inclui, por exemplo, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitores, TVs e periféricos de computador. Intel Core i5:

2467M: Processador ULV economizador de energia com freqüência de 1,6-2,3 GHz graças ao Turbo Boost. Oferece uma HD 3000 integrada com baixa freqüência de 350 / 1150 MHz e um controlador de memória DDR3-1333.
