O Vertex 450 é uma continuação do trajeto da OCZ para uma maior independência no processo de produção. Graças à aquisição da Indilinx, o especialista em SSDs agora é capaz de oferecer produtos exclusivos que não recorre a controladores de terceiros.

Embora o Vector – o primeiro carro chefe da companhia baseado no controlador Barefoot 3 de produção própria – foi um excelente drive, teve problemas para competir com outros SSDs de gama alta, em termos de preços. Se movendo para um NAND mais econômico e uma nova versão do Barefoot 3 com frequências ligeiramente inferiores, a OCZ está tentando atingir o equilíbrio perfeito. 

Não há dúvida de que o Vertex 450 se desempenha suficientemente bem para competir com os melhores drives do mercado; a dúvida que permanece e se a OCZ conseguirá manter os preços suficientemente baixos para oferecer bom valor para os usuários mais conscientes. 

 

Ele deve enfrentar forte concorrência de outros SSDs de gama alta como o Samsung SSD 840 Pro, mas se esta equação der certo à favor da OCZ, o Vertex 450 poderia se posicionar em uma posição top bem merecida no segmento de entusiastas exigentes.
