Unfortunately gaming performances aren’t on same level as rest of this notebook. Simply put, native resolution is too much for nVIDIA 9700GT graphics card and this will result in usage of middle of low settings in most contemporary games. If you don’t mind playing games with settings not set at “High” (or “Highest”) than this can be model for you. If you want to play games on “High” and enjoy in best gaming experience on notebook then you must wait a little bit more for some of models that will have slightly slower CPU and better graphics card.

This means the system lacks features such as the Blu-ray drive found on the A versions but instead features a more powerful GeForce 9800M mobile graphics. Even though it is performance oriented with the high speed Core 2 Duo, ASUS decided to use DDR2 memory to cut down on costs but it also holds back the system in memory intensice applications. Overall, a good system for computer gaming but might not be as good for general purpose computing.

The ASUS G71G-Q1 ($2,000 street) is close to the bleeding edge, packing features like an Intel quad-core processor, a Blu-ray reader, and cavernous hard drives. It's almost the total package, but it falls short on the one thing that matters most to gamers: graphics. Although the Nvidia GeForce 9800M GS card it comes with is considered a very good gaming card, there are systems that deliver higher frame rates for about the same price. The ASUS G71G-Q1 makes a perfect media center or desktop replacement laptop, but if frame rates are paramount for you, there are systems that carry better graphics cards.

Asus: A ASUSTeK Computer Inc. é uma importante fabricante taiwanesa de hardware de computador com sede em Taipei, fundada em 1989. Sob a marca Asus, a empresa fabrica uma ampla gama de produtos, incluindo laptops, desktops, placas-mãe, placas gráficas, monitores, smartphones e equipamentos de rede, sistemas completos e componentes de PC para usuários finais.
Sob a marca ROG (Republic of Gamers), a ASUS fabrica laptops para jogos conhecidos pelos gamers por suas especificações poderosas, placas de vídeo dedicadas, telas de alta taxa de atualização e sistemas de resfriamento avançados.
Além dos jogos, uma ampla gama de notebooks é oferecida para diferentes necessidades e orçamentos, desde ultrabooks finos e leves até conversíveis 2 em 1 versáteis e opções econômicas. Em 2023, a Asus tinha uma participação de 7% no mercado global de PCs.
A satisfação dos clientes com os notebooks da ASUS diz respeito ao desempenho, aos recursos e à boa relação preço-desempenho dos notebooks da ASUS. NVIDIA GeForce 9700M GT: Sucessora da 8700M GT e tecnicamente uma 9600M GT com freqüência mais alta. Motor de vídeo melhorado para decodificar vídeos HD (PureVideo HD - VP2), HybridPower, CUDA, e suporte PhysX.
Estas placas também devem ser capazes de agüentar todos os jogos atuais, mas a maioria deles em configurações de detalhes médios e baixos e com baixas resoluções. Jogos mais antigos, ou menos exigentes ainda podem ser jogados com boa qualidade de gráficos.
NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GS: Como a 9800M GTS, a 9800M GS é baseada no core G94 mas possui uma freqüência mais baixa. É fabricada em 55nm e por isso tem um consumo atual máximo mais baixo (60W). O motor integrado PureVideo HD é capaz de decodificar vídeos em HD.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M: Nvidia GeForce GTX 260M é basicamente uma GeForce 9800M GTX com maior freqüência, em 55nm e baseada no core G92b (portanto não é comparável a GTX 260). Comparado com o 9800M GTX, o GTX 260M é produzido em 55nm e por isso tem maior freqüência.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Este é o sucessor do Core Duo e o Core Solo com um pipeline mais longo e com 5-20% a mais de velocidade sem maior consumo de energia. Adicionalmente ao design do Core Duo existe um quarto decodificador, uma unidade SSE ampliada e uma unidade lógica aritmética (ALU) adicional.
Os Core 2 Duo para notebooks são idênticos aos processadores Core 2 Duo para desktops, mas os processadores para notebooks trabalham com tensões mais baixas e um Frontside bus clock mais baixo. O desempenho de notebooks igualmente clocked é 20-25% mais baixo que PCs Desktop por causa do Frontside bus clock mais baixo e os discos rígidos mais lentos.
T9400: O T9400 é um veloz CPU de classe média para portáteis e basicamente um Core 2 Duo P9500 com um TDP mais alto de 35 Watt.
T9550: O T9550 é um CPU dual-core de classe média da linha Core 2 Duo e semelhante ao P9600 (exceto pelo maior TDP do T9550 - 35 contra 25W). O desempenho do T9550 deveria ser suficiente para a maioria dos aplicativos e jogos de 2009.
