Around a year and a half ago we looked at the Asus Lambourghini VX2 and we were pretty enamoured with it. For a start, it gave us some actual justification for the usual TR habit of populating our reviews with more car analogies than a Bugatti Veyron has horsepower. Moreover, while the styling didn't really pay homage to the Lambo's namesake, it was still distinctive enough to persuade us it would appeal to supercar aficionados. Yes the VX3 is pricey, even overpriced, but what does that matter? It's a Lambourghini for goodness sake! There's nothing out there you can buy that's quite the same. (But I'll still have a Porsche 911 GT3 RS instead thanks - ed.)

A hugely powerful luxury ultraportable, but it's undermined by poor ergonomics and a wallet-busting price.

But the Ferrari’s slight advantage shouldn’t be taken as any kind of slight on the Asus Lamborghini: its price is good, the performance is good and features – including USB 3.0 – are well-specced. And it’s more readily available than the Ferrari One. The Asus EeePC Lamborghini VX6 is a 12.1in netbook you’d be pleased to use, and the only drawback, for some, may be the wrong logo on the lid.

I wouldn’t buy this netbook for one simple reason; the price is too high for a netbook with an Atom processor. I’d rather buy an entry-level laptop like the Lenovo IdeaPad Z460 or the something similar, where I get a proper 14-inch screen and the laptop can play full-HD movies, not to mention that it would have an Intel Core i3 CPU. This is a niche product that could attract either brand-conscious users or people who need something portable, feature rich and cool to carry around. At the end of the day, it’s an expensive netbook. It deserves an above average rating solely due to the features, performance and overall quality. The price is ridiculous.

The Asus Lamborghini VX6 sells at an MRP of Rs. 43,000. Let us keep the Lamborghini branding aside for a moment (we know that there will be a time when the charm's ultimately going to wear off). This laptop is better than the previous 12-inch ION-powered ASUS netbook in two respects - a dual-core Atom processor and the USB 3.0 ports. Otherwise, it is more or less the same in terms of functionality. The VX6 falls in a weird category. It is far too expensive to be called a netbook. If your objective is to watch hi-def movies and have moderately powerful internals under the hood, then 40 grand can also fetch you the 13-inch variant of the Acer Timeline X 4820T we tested; if you're willing to let go of the car-branding. From an individual stand-point, the VX6 left me a little dissatisfied on a few counts like the battery life and lacking Optimus tech (which could've improved the battery life). If you insist on buying a 12-inch netbook, then the 1201NL worth Rs. 27,000 will do almost everything the VX6 can, except for the USB 3.0 high-speed data transfers.

So, is the Asus VX6 Lamborghini worth the fuss? Well, that's for you to decide. I can say that it is fast for a mini laptop and looks great. With ultra-low power laptops approaching netbook levels of battery life (and in some cases surpassing it) and with tablets usurping the netbook's traditional role as companion device, netbooks need to do something different to stand out. Despite the styling and the Lamborghini branding, the VX6 remains an Eee in wolf's clothing. You're paying a premium price for something that could be bought a lot cheaper elsewhere, and no matter how fancy the looks, the fact that this is a 32-bit Atom with only 2GB of RAM and no GPU shows as soon as you try to run any demanding applications. Sadly then, the NV6 doesn't even reach go-cart levels, despite its sports car looks - instead it's just a die-cast children's' toy sat in the window of the show room.

Asus: A ASUSTeK Computer Inc. é uma importante fabricante taiwanesa de hardware de computador com sede em Taipei, fundada em 1989. Sob a marca Asus, a empresa fabrica uma ampla gama de produtos, incluindo laptops, desktops, placas-mãe, placas gráficas, monitores, smartphones e equipamentos de rede, sistemas completos e componentes de PC para usuários finais.

Sob a marca ROG (Republic of Gamers), a ASUS fabrica laptops para jogos conhecidos pelos gamers por suas especificações poderosas, placas de vídeo dedicadas, telas de alta taxa de atualização e sistemas de resfriamento avançados.

Além dos jogos, uma ampla gama de notebooks é oferecida para diferentes necessidades e orçamentos, desde ultrabooks finos e leves até conversíveis 2 em 1 versáteis e opções econômicas. Em 2023, a Asus tinha uma participação de 7% no mercado global de PCs.

A satisfação dos clientes com os notebooks da ASUS diz respeito ao desempenho, aos recursos e à boa relação preço-desempenho dos notebooks da ASUS. Entretanto, como em qualquer marca, há relatos ocasionais de problemas como superaquecimento, compatibilidade de drivers ou problemas de qualidade de construção.

Estes processadores gráficos podem mostrar fluidamente só jogos antigos. Jogos atuais só podem ser apresentados com detalhes substancialmente reduzidos.

NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT é a sucessora direta DirectX 10 da GeForce Go 7600 GT para portáteis. Dependendo da memória gráfica usada e a velocidade de freqüência, o desempenho entre as placas de vídeo 7600 GT e 7900 GS. Por tanto, jogos atuais como Company of Heroes, Supreme Commander, ou F.E.A.R podem ser jogados fluentemente  com altos detalhes numa resolução de 1024 ou similar. Jogados que o tempo todo esperam frame rates supremos, deverão esperar a serie 8800 da NVidia.

NVIDIA GeForce 9300M G: O melhorado chip 8400M GS, que é produzido em 65nm e mostra um desempenho levemente melhor graças a algumas pequenas otimizações.

NVIDIA ION 2: ION2 é um chip gráfico GT218 da Pinetrail Atom systems (D510, D410, N450) com 8 ou 16 núcleos shader dependendo da plataforma (10", 12", desktop). Comparado com o ION 1, ION 2 é uma placa de vídeo dedicada (conectada somente por uma PCIe 1x devido às limitações do Pinetrail) baseado na GeForce 305M / 310M. Suporta PureVideo HD para decodificar vídeos HD.

Alguns jogos atuais não tão exigentes podem ser jogados fluentemente com poucos detalhes.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M: A GeForce GT 130M é uma GeForce 9650M GT com maior freqüência com TDP um pouco mais baixo (no nível da 9600M GT). O desempenho difere de acordo com tipo de memória usada (DDR3 até 1066 MHz e DDR até 600 MHz). PhysX só é suportado na configuração SLI.

Intel Core 2 Duo: Este é o sucessor do Core Duo e o Core Solo com um pipeline mais longo e com 5-20%  a mais de velocidade sem maior consumo de energia. Adicionalmente ao design do Core Duo existe um quarto decodificador, uma unidade SSE ampliada e uma unidade lógica aritmética (ALU) adicional.

Os Core 2 Duo para notebooks são idênticos aos processadores Core 2 Duo para desktops, mas os processadores para notebooks trabalham com tensões mais baixas e um Frontside bus clock mais baixo. O desempenho de notebooks igualmente clocked é 20-25% mais baixo que PCs Desktop  por causa do Frontside bus clock mais baixo e os discos rígidos mais lentos.

T7500: O Core 2 Duo T7500 é um Core 2 Duo baseado em Merom com Cache de 4MB de nível 2. Está posicionado na classe média (em 2009) e seu desempenho está no nível de um moderno P7550 ou Turion II Ultra M640/M660.

T9300: O T9300 é um veloz CPU de classe média para portáteis e semelhante ao T9400, mas com um FSB mais baixo.

Intel Core 2 Quad:

Q9000: CPU quad core(4 núcleos) de baixa freqüência que sofre de baixa velocidade de freqüência em muitos jogos. Portanto, não é adequado para jogos e somente para aplicativos multi threaded.

Intel Atom: A série Atom da Intel é um microprocessador de 64 Bits para portáteis pequenos e baratos, MIDs, ou UMPCs. A especialidade de sua nova arquitetura é a execução “in order” (ao inves de a usual mais rápida execução “out of order”). Assim, o trabalho do transistor é bem mais baixo na série Atom, e é mais barato para produzir.
