There's no doubt that the Asus Zenbook UX31 is a stylish and solid laptop that should appeal to those of you who want good performance out of a thin-and-light unit. However, we feel that it has been rushed to market and that its user friendliness suffers as a result. Its input devices are not very good, it doesn't have a backlit keyboard, we found it uncomfortable to type on and we had to fiddle with drivers to get things working properly out of the box. This is disappointing, especially considering all the hype behind this product.

EN→PTThere's no doubt that the Asus Zenbook UX31 is a stylish and solid laptop that should appeal to those of you who want good performance out of a thin-and-light unit. However, we feel that it has been rushed to market and that its user friendliness suffers as a result. Its input devices are not very good, it doesn't have a backlit keyboard, we found it uncomfortable to type on and we had to fiddle with drivers to get things working properly out of the box. This is disappointing, especially considering all the hype behind this product.

We like the Asus Zenbook UX31 quite a bit. It's exquisitely thin, superbly light at 2.86 pounds, and it's gorgeous. The build quality is top notch--in fact it's one of the best made notebooks we've seen outside of Apple's store. The laptop is very fast and could work as a main machine if you're not a 3D gamer. For a 13" ultraportable it has a better than average selection of ports, and we love the HDMI and USB 3.0 ports in particular. Though most components are soldered onto the motherboard, we appreciate that it's not hard to open up the notebook to access components. We have no qualms with the keyboard though it's not our favorite, and we actually like the trackpad after updating the firmware and drivers. Lastly, the 1600 x 900 display really sets the Zenbook apart from the crowd and is more conducive to doing serious work on the go. Finally, there's a MacBook Air for Windows folks. That's not to say the Air isn't an excellent machine to run Windows, but the $200 price savings, Windows keyboard, HDMI and USB 3.0 combined with the higher resolution display are a good counter to the Air.

While it's possible Ultrabooks from other manufacturers will do a better job, it'll be tough as the MacBook Air isn't just a collection of components but a result of tight integration between hardware and software. We'll have to wait and see.

The UX31 is one of the most refreshing PCs I’ve reviewed in a long time. The design and quality are truly outstanding; ASUS clearly went all-out. The sheer thinness and light weight of the notebook make you want to buy it as soon as it’s picked up. Another major highlight of the notebook is the excellent 1600x900 screen resolution which is remarkable for a 13.3-inch notebook. I was also impressed with the good sound quality and six hours of battery life. The real downsides of the notebook concern the keyboard and touchpad; both take getting used to. The keyboard requires extra pressure; the keys must be 100% pressed otherwise keystrokes do not register. I mastered this after a few days. The touchpad needed a driver update before it became predictable, and even then it is not particularly accurate. I also wish the clicks were quieter. Other things to consider with this notebook are the lack of user-upgradeable parts (there are none) and scarcity of ports (that can be solved with adapters, however).

The $1,299 ASUS Zenbook Prime UX32VD is sort of a niche Ultrabook for those not satisfied with Intel's graphics performance, and on that basis it succeeds. You get the same sweet 1080p IPS screen and rich Bang & Olufsen speakers as the UX31A, and Nvidia's GeForce GT 620M GPU provides enough muscle to play some of the most demanding games (albeit at lower resolutions).

Asus: ASUSTeK Computers Associated, uma companhia taiwanesa multinacional, produz placas- mãe, soluções gráficas, drivers ópticos, PDAs, monitores de computadores, portáteis (notebook), servidores, produtos de networking, telefones móveis, cases de computador, componentes de computadores, e sistemas de resfriamento de computador. A receita da empresa em 2007 alcançou US$6.9 bilhões. A ASUS também produz componentes para outros fabricantes. O Eee PC iniciou o boom dos netbooks em 2008.
Estes processadores gráficos podem mostrar fluidamente só jogos antigos. Jogos atuais só podem ser apresentados com detalhes substancialmente reduzidos.
NVIDIA GeForce G 105M: Uma 9300M GS com maior freqüência e portanto um pouco mais rápida. Ainda fabricada em 65nm. Suporta Hybrid-SLI com HybridPower e GeForceBoost (em conjunção com o chipset Nvidia correto).
A Nvidia GeForce G105M é um adaptador gráfico com maior freqüência do que a GeForce 9300M G e por isso capaz para o DirectX 10 apropriada para portáteis pequenos e finos.
Intel HD Graphics (Sandy Bridge): Placa de vídeo que está integrada nos processadores Pentium Sandy Bridge e Celeron. Similar à HD Graphics 2000 para desktop e não está relacionada com a antiga Arrandale com o mesmo nome.
Alguns jogos atuais não tão exigentes podem ser jogados fluentemente com poucos detalhes.
Intel HD Graphics 3000: 3 futuras placas de vídeo integradas (Q1 2011) nos processadores Intel Sandy Bridge (Core ix-2xxx). A 3000 / 200 é a versão mais veloz internamente chamada de GT2, com 12 Unidade de Execução (EUs).
Estas placas também devem ser capazes de agüentar todos os jogos atuais, mas a maioria deles em configurações de detalhes médios e baixos e com baixas resoluções. Jogos mais antigos, ou menos exigentes ainda podem ser jogados com boa qualidade de gráficos.
NVIDIA GeForce GT 620M: 28nm Fermi Shrink. Classe média baixa.
Intel HD Graphics 4000: Placa de vídeo de processador na gama alta dos modelos Ivy Bridge. Oferece uma freqüência diferente nos diferentes modelos de CPU (ULV a quad core de desktop) e, portanto, um desempenho diferente.
Estas placas de vídeo de classe média podem mostrar todos os jogos atuais fluentemente. Jogos exigentes somente podem ser jogados com configurações de detalhes médios.

Intel Core 2 Solo:
SU3500: Processador de um só núcleo energeticamente eficiente para subportáteis pequenos que se baseia no núcleo Penryn e inclui todos os recursos (como Virtualização, C6 state, ...). O desempenho deve ser semelhante ao de um Athlon II Neo K125 de 1,7 GHz.
Intel Core i7:
2677M: Processador ULV economizador de energia com freqüência de 1,8-2,9 GHz graças ao Turbo Boost. Oferece uma HD 3000 integrada com baixa freqüência de 350 / 1200 MHz e um controlador de memória DDR3-1333.
3517U: Veloz CPU ULV baseado em Ivy-Bridge no segundo trimestre de 2012. Oferece uma freqüência de 1,9 - 3,0 GHz e um GPU HD 4000 (350 - 1150 MHz). O TDP é de 17 W.
Intel Core i5:
2557M: Processador ULV economizador de energia com freqüência de 1,7-2,7 GHz graças ao Turbo Boost. Oferece uma HD 3000 integrada com baixa freqüência de 350 / 1200 MHz e um controlador de memória DDR3-1333.
2467M: Processador ULV economizador de energia com freqüência de 1,6-2,3 GHz graças ao Turbo Boost. Oferece uma HD 3000 integrada com baixa freqüência de 350 / 1150 MHz e um controlador de memória DDR3-1333.
2537M: Processador ULV economizador de energia com freqüência de 1,4-2,3 GHz graças ao Turbo Boost. Oferece uma HD 3000 integrada com baixa freqüência de 350 / 900 MHz e um controlador de memória DDR3-1333.

A razão do porquê tantas pessoas gostam de telas com tamanho médio é, que esse tamanho não é exaustivo para os olhos, não precisa de muita energia, mas por outra partre os portáteis podem ser mantidos bem compactos.
