O modelo de nível de entrada da linha Omen não possui uma CPU Core i7 mas oferece "apenas" um processador Core i5-6300HQ . Consequentemente, o comprador "apenas" deve gastar 1300 Euros (~$1390). No entanto, o processador instalado tem mais que suficiente poder de cômputo para todos os cenários de aplicação comuns. A combinação do 6300HQ e a unidade gráfica GeForce GTX 1060  roda quase todos os jogos atuais em resolução Full HD utilizando configurações de qualidade altas e, as vezes inclusive máximas. A tecnologia G-Sync da Nvidia garante uma imagem fluente na tela de 75-Hz.

A fluência do sistema deve-se ao SSD SATA III. No entanto, ainda há espaço para melhorias. O SSD poderia ser substituído por um modelo PCIe/NVMe muito mais veloz. Também seria possível substituir o disco rígido de 1 TB instalado. O painel IPS mate agrada com seu alto brilho, alto contraste, e ângulos de visão estáveis.

Como o Omen 17 w100ng, a HP lança um modelo de nível de entrada bem balanceado no mundo dos portáteis para jogos.

O Omen não está livre de reclamos: A HP deveria, por exemplo, trabalhar mais na produção de ruído. O portátil produz mais ruído do necessário. O sistema de resfriamento parece estar feito para a combinação do Core i7-6700 com a GeForce GTX 1070. Uma atualização do BIOS poderia melhorar as coisas aqui. O portátil também não pode oferecer Thunderbolt 3 ou portas USB 3.1 Gen2. Esperamos essa porta em um portátil 2016/2017 desta faixa de preços.
