Revisão Dynabook Portégé X40-K: Portátil Premium com um display de orçamento

Um dinossauro Dynabook? O Portege X40-K é o varejo de laptops comerciais premium da empresa por mais de US$1400 e, no entanto, vem com um display que é encontrado em laptops de orçamento por quase metade do preço. O modelo certamente poderia usar mais atualizações além apenas da nova CPU da 12ª geração.

Caso

O chassi é uma revisão completa do antigo Portege X40-G. Suas luneiras são muito mais estreitas em todos os lados, enquanto as duas grandes dobradiças cinzas ao longo dos cantos traseiros agora desapareceram em favor de uma dobradiça de barra. As bordas e os cantos da tampa agora também são cromados.

As dimensões são aproximadamente a média de um laptop comercial de 14. O ThinkPad X1 Carbono é visivelmente mais leve, embora também mais caro em comparação.

Nossa unidade vem com um painel Chi Mei similar ao encontrado no Vaio FE14 (N140HCA-EAC vs. N140HCA-EAD). O display não está bem calibrado fora da caixa. Calibrar a tela nós mesmos com um colorímetro X-Rite melhoraria drasticamente os valores médios do DeltaE, como mostram nossas capturas de tela CalMAN abaixo. Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)

To dim the screen, some notebooks will simply cycle the backlight on and off in rapid succession - a method called Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) . This cycling frequency should ideally be undetectable to the human eye. If said frequency is too low, users with sensitive eyes may experience strain or headaches or even notice the flickering altogether.

In comparison: 53 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 17900 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 3846000) Hz was measured.

Com apenas cerca de 250 lêndeas, a tela não é brilhante o suficiente para ser usada na maioria dos ambientes externos sem que as cores sejam lavadas. Os notebooks Dell Latitude e HP EliteBook podem ser muito mais brilhantes por mais de 2x, mas também podem ser vendidos no varejo por muito mais.

Desempenho

Condições de teste

Configuramos nossa unidade para o modo Performance via Windows antes de executar quaisquer benchmarks abaixo. Também desativamos o "Modo Eco" através do software Dynabook Settings pré-instalado. É recomendado que os usuários se familiarizem com as Configurações do Dynabook, pois uma grande variedade de configurações é acessível aqui, incluindo desempenho, carregamento, opções de inicialização, senhas e muito mais. Inclui até mesmo uma leitura de consumo de energia em tempo real que é uma característica incomum em laptops. Várias das configurações disponíveis são mostradas através das capturas de tela abaixo.

Processador

O desempenho da CPU é excelente com resultados multi-core que são 10 a 30% mais rápidos do que a média Núcleo i7-1260P em nosso banco de dados. A CPU é mais rápida do que a maioria, se não todas as alternativas Core U-series e Ryzen U-series no momento da revisão

A sustentabilidade do desempenho poderia ter sido um pouco melhor. Ao executar o CineBench R15 xT em um loop, o desempenho do processador diminuiria em cerca de 18% após a execução inicial, como mostra nosso gráfico abaixo.

Quando estressada sob Prime95, a CPU aumentaria para 3,4 GHz e com um consumo de energia de 39 W durante os primeiros 20 segundos ou mais, até que a temperatura central atingisse um máximo de 92 C. Depois disso, as taxas de clock cairiam para 2,9 GHz e finalmente 2,2 GHz com um consumo de energia de 28 W para manter uma temperatura central mais fria de 77 C. O sistema é, portanto, incapaz de manter altas taxas de clock Turbo Boost por longos períodos devido a limitações térmicas.

O Portege X40-K é, nas próprias palavras da Dynabook, uma "nova era de computação empresarial premium". Como um laptop comercial premium, é justo compará-lo a outras alternativas de Lenovo ThinkPad T ou Série X1, HP EliteBook ou Série Libélulaou o Dell Latitude 7000 ou série 9000. O sistema Dynabook fica aquém em várias áreas-chave por esta métrica, pois sua tela é mais fraca, suas cores são significativamente piores, não é tão leve, sua webcam de 720p é de péssima qualidade, e ainda utiliza tanto uma porta adaptadora de CA de barril quanto um leitor de impressões digitais touchpad, enquanto outros laptops comerciais premium já fizeram a transição completa para os botões de carregamento USB-C e de alimentação por impressão digital. As duas últimas características em particular fazem com que o Portege X40-K se sinta velho apesar de carregar a última geração de CPUs Intel.
