Não muito mudou na superfície: com o seu design modesto e exterior preto liso, o Dell Latitude 5480 de 14 polegadas ainda se parece muito ao predecessor Latitude 14 E5470. A CPU dual-cores Kaby Lake i7 de gama alta oferece um desempenho excelente, suficiente para a maioria das tarefas empresariais. A GPU integrada oferece um poder 3D apenas moderado; os usuários que precisem de melhor processamento gráfico podem escolher um modelo Latitude equipado com uma GPUNvidia GeForce 930MX dedicada. A qualidade de construção é alta, com brechas regulares e tolerâncias apertadas, porém, a flexão do teclado no meio é muito pronunciada para nosso gosto. os dispositivos de entrada - incluindo a tela táctil - funcionam bem e os digitadores provavelmente achem o teclado agradável para seu uso. Os usuários do Pointstick que vêm de um Thinkpad podem não ficar muito impressionados com o design dos botões do mouse, no entanto.

Uma das principais diferenças - e também um grande passo para trás, em nossa opinião - é a nova tela. Embora ofereça melhor contraste, tanto o espaço de cores quanto o brilho, em particular - o novo painel é 35 % mais escuro - foi o mais afetado. A duração da bateria do Latitude 5480 é incrível - 16 horas de navegação WLAN deveria ser suficiente inclusive para as abelhas trabalhadoras mais diligentes. Porém, teríamos trocado facilmente um par de horas de funcionamento por uma tela mais brilhante.
