Intel 2450M

O Intel Core i5-2450M é um veloz processador dual core que apareceu primeiro em portáteis Dell em 11/2011. Baseia-se na arquitetura Sandy Bridge e oferece Hyperthreading para controlar 4 threads simultaneamente (para um melhor uso do pipeline). Comparado com o mais veloz Core i7, o i5 oferece um menor cache de último nível de 3MB. A freqüência básica é de 2,5 GHz, mas graças ao Turbo Boost pode atingir 2,8 GHz (2 núcleos ativos) e 3,1 GHz (1 núcleo ativo). Comparado com o 2510M, o 2450M não suporta as funções VT-d e Trusted Execution. No entanto, o GPU integrado oferece uma freqüência superior de Turbo Boost.

A Sandy Bridge é a sucessora evolucionária da arquitetura Arrandale. As melhorias mais notáveis são o Turbo Boost 2.0 melhorado e a integração da placa de vídeo no núcleo do CPU de 32nm.

O i5-2450M oferece uma placa de vídeo integrada ( Intel HD Graphics 3000) que é evidentemente mais veloz que a antiga Intel HD Graphics nos CPUs Arrandale. Dado que o novo GPU está incluído no CPU, também é produzido em 32nm e compartilha o veloz cache de nível 3 com os núcleos do CPU (usando um novo ring bus). No 2435M está com uma freqüência de 650 ou 1300MHz (com Turbo Boost).

Além disso, um controlador de memória DDR3 melhorado de dois canais está incluído no CPU, que é utilizado pelo CPU e GPU.

Graças à arquitetura melhorada e o novo Turbo Boost 2.0, o desempenho médio do Core i5-2450M é mais alto que o de um Arrandale Core i5 com freqüência similar. Dando uma olhada nos benchmarks de CPUs Core i5 com freqüências mais baixas, o i5-2450M deve posicionar-se ligeiramente acima do antigo Core i5-620M e é, portanto, é adequado até mesmo para tarefas mais exigentes.

O TDP de 35W inclui o GPU integrado e o controlador de memória.
