A GPU para laptop NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 (codinome GN21-X9) é uma GPU para laptop de última geração. É baseado no chip AD104 como o desktop RTX 4070 Ti e usa a arquitetura Ada Lovelace. O chip AD104 oferece um máximo de 7.680 shaders (por exemplo, o RTX 4070 Ti Desktop) do qual o laptop RTX 4080 usa 7.424 e um barramento de memória de 192 bits. O RTX 4080 mobile usa memória gráfica dedicada GDDR6 de 12 GB com velocidade de clock de 16 ou 20 Gbps (efetiva). O TGP (Total Graphics Power) pode ser configurado entre 60 e 150 Watts (+25 Watts Dynamic Boost da CPU) levando a diferentes níveis de desempenho (o desktop RTX 4070 Ti usa 285 Watts para comparações). A velocidade do clock boost varia de 1350 MHz (em 60 Watt TGP) até 2280 MHz (150W). Portanto, o desempenho também depende muito da configuração de energia usada para o RTX 4080 mobile no laptop.
O desempenho sintético do RTX 4080 está claramente acima do RTX 3080 Ti móvel em nossos testes e só superado pelo RTX 4090 móvel. Em jogos reais, vimos que mesmo jogos exigentes com Raytracing habilitado (como F1 23) poderiam ser jogados em QHD e configurações máximas. Jogos menos exigentes como Baldur's Gate 3 podem ser jogados fluentemente em 4k (veja os resultados abaixo).
O RTX 4080 oferece 232 núcleos tensores (4ª geração) que permitem DLSS 3, incluindo geração de quadros para jogos suportados. Além disso, 58 núcleos de raytracing (4ª geração) podem ser usados para efeitos de raytracing em jogos suportados.
O chip AD103 é fabricado em 5nm na TSMC (processo 4N).
