NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU

A Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Mobile (para notebooks, GN20-E5, Max-P, ID 249c / 249d) é a segunda placa gráfica Ampere mais rápida para notebooks no início de 2021. Ela é baseada no chip GA104-770-A1 Ampere e oferece 8 GB de memória gráfica GDDR6 com um barramento de memória de 256 Bit. Ela suporta PCIe 4.0 e estará disponível em duas variantes diferentes de 80 a 125 Watt (TGP). Como pacote a placa gráfica para notebook usa GB5-256 e o tamanho do chip é de 40x40mm. A GPU suporta o eDP 1.4b para conectar o monitor interno.

Não há mais a variante Max-Q (anteriormente usada para as variantes de baixa potência), mas cada OEM pode escolher implementar as tecnologias Max-Q (Dynamic Boost, Whispermode).

O desempenho depende da configuração do TGP e do resfriamento do laptop. Em média, deve ser semelhante ao antigo RTX 2080 Super Mobile e, portanto, mais adequado para jogos QHD - 4k. A placa semelhante chamada RTX 3070 desktop é significativamente mais rápida.

O chip GA104 oferece 6.144 FP32 ALUs das quais metade também pode executar instruções INT32 (ou seja, 3.072 INT32 ALUs). A RTX 3070, entretanto, não utilizará todas as ALUs no chip. Com Turing todos os shaders ainda poderiam executar as instruções FP32 ou INT32. O traçado de raio e os núcleos tensores no chip também foram melhorados de acordo com a Nvidia. A série móvel RTX 3070 usa 5.120 dos 6.144 núcleos. Os chips Ampere também incluem um codificador de vídeo de 5ª geração melhorado (NVENC para H.264 e H.265) e um decodificador de 7ª geração (para vários formatos agora incluindo AV1).

O chip GA104 é fabricado pela Samsung em 8nm (8N), que não consegue acompanhar o nó de 7nm na TSMC (por exemplo, usado pela AMD e também para o chip profissional GA100 Ampere).
